about

Following the visceral Clubroot - Remixes Vol. 1 single on the LoDubs remix driven Special Request Sublabel comes a single from Jaybird. A Native of the Philly/Baltimore area, Jaybird first really came into the public eye through his remixes of classic house and techno tunes, which came natural for him, given his years of history in that scene prior to the advent of Dubstep. One by one, Jaybird rolled out floor slaying remixes on dubplate of such classic tracks as Carmague, Inner City Life, and even the Ramones!
But it was his remix of "The Percolator" that really took him into the top circles of renown among dubstep remixers. Fluidly reapplying the classic coffee pot sound into a hybrid wobble proved to be an infectious invention, and led to the track being a constant staple of the sets of N Type, 6BLOCC, and many others.
Of course, at the same time Jaybird was just as capable of creating his OWN sound. A little over a year ago, Kraken, a label out of Denmark brought out "Work Dat Box", a twisted, menacing synth-and-bass monster that became a standout in many sets, and once placed beside this release, will be seen as the hint of all the visceral energy to come once the ideas and abilities where to be refined into "What Da Funk!?", which could perhaps go down in history as the record that managed to squeeze the most visceral shapes possible, human or otherwise, out of the classic Roland 808.
Of course, when hearing a track of of such potency, one knows there are very few that could handle such elements and instead of taming them, enrage them.
6Blocc is just that person. Those who know are aware of the fact that he originally came to the attention of the world of Dubstep through his remix of "Clear" by Cybotron, another classic track punched out of the ether from an 808 back in the 80's. His history actually goes back to the dawn of electro rap, which explains his second nature when being confronted with such raw elements, but that's another story....
LoDubs Special Request. Once again proving that Dubstep is alive and well, and can be of the 12 o'clock variety, yet musically inventive and uncompromisingly creative and melodic all at once, contrary to the popular belief circa 2011.
